Bayern - Augsburg 1:2

FC Augsburg produced one of the biggest surprises of the Bundesliga season, stunning leaders Bayern Munich with a dramatic 2–1 away victory at the Allianz Arena. The side led by Manuel Baum showed resilience, intensity and belief, mounting a strong second-half comeback to hand the champions their first league defeat of the campaign.

For long spells, the match appeared to be following a familiar script. Bayern Munich dominated possession but struggled to carve out clear-cut chances. Still, on 23 minutes, the breakthrough arrived. A corner delivered by Michael Olise was met by Hiroki Ito, who rose highest to head home and give the hosts a 1–0 advantage.

Bayern had opportunities to extend their lead before the break, yet failed to be clinical. Augsburg, meanwhile, offered a warning sign in stoppage time, rattling the crossbar and hinting at what was to come.

After the interval, the momentum shifted noticeably. The physical toll of a midweek UEFA Champions League fixture appeared to catch up with Bayern Munich, who looked short of sharpness. Sensing vulnerability, Augsburg grew in confidence and gradually took control.

The equaliser arrived in the 75th minute. Following a corner, Arthur Chaves reacted quickest inside the box, flicking a clever header beyond the goalkeeper to make it 1–1. Just six minutes later came the decisive moment — a devastating second goal that silenced the Allianz Arena and left the league leaders reeling.

Bayern Munich pushed for a response but could not recover from the blow. As the final whistle sounded, the significance of the result was clear.
