Shakhtar Football Director Darijo Srna spoke about the start of team's preparations for the new season.

"The last time we all saw each other was on May 1 in Split, when we didn't know at all what the situation with Ukrainian football would be. Today we know that Shakhtar is alive and is starting to work with a new coach.

We went through two wars in 8 years. I hope ope no one else has to go through this. We know what it's like to lose your home, but we won't cry. We are alive and we are preparing for the season. We want to please the Ukrainian people - we will represent Ukraine in the Champions League. We will fight for people to give them positive emotions.

Today I'm not ready to be Shakhtar's new coach. This is a specific situation. It needs someone with more experience than me. Igor Jovićević deserved to become the head coach of Shakhtar with his work and his beautiful football.

We lost 14 players, we had a strong team, but Shakhtar will always remain Shakhtar. We have big ambitions, as always. We hope that a couple more players will arrive to strengthen the team, and we will fight till the end," said Srna.
