Shakhtar and Tottenham will play to support Ukraine

Shakhtar and Tottenham will have a charity match to support the people of Ukraine. The game will take place on Sunday, August 6, at 14:00 at the Spurs’ home arena Tottenham Hotspur in London.

The game will be dedicated to raise funds for Shakhtar Social charity foundation which has provided financial support, humanitarian and medical assistance to children and families across Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine began. Tottenham Hotspur will also make a financial contribution and an additional donation of net proceeds from ticket sales.

This will be the first meeting between the clubs since 2009 when Shakhtar and Tottenham faced each other in the UEFA Cup, which the Miners won that season.

– It is very important for us to raise awareness of people all over the world about the war against Ukraine, about the struggle waged by the Ukrainian people. Also, our task is to do everything possible to help solve the humanitarian issues Ukrainians are currently facing. So we are delighted to be able to play against Tottenham in London to support this mission. We hope our charity match will attract and gather lots of fans in the stands including Ukrainians who fled to the UK from the war. For us it is a great opportunity to play with one of the strongest English clubs and to raise funds to support Ukraine and our people.

It promises to be a special occasion, for me personally, as it will be my first time in front of our home fans, and for the world to once again see how football has the unique ability to unite people in support of good causes.
