Inter Complete Double Over Feyenoord, Set Up Clash with Bayern Munich

After a comfortable 2–0 victory in Rotterdam, Inter once again proved too strong for Feyenoord in the return leg, sealing a spot in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

The home side made a statement inside the first ten minutes. Marcus Thuram received the ball on the left flank, cut inside, and unleashed a powerful drive into the far top corner, handing Inter a 1–0 lead on the night. However, the Nerazzurri then seemed to take their foot off the gas, allowing the visitors to control possession.

Feyenoord capitalized on Inter’s lull just before halftime. A clumsy challenge by Hakan Çalhanoğlu led to a penalty in the 42nd minute, which Moder converted to level the match at 1–1. For a brief moment, it appeared that if the Dutch side could find another goal, the tension inside the stadium would skyrocket.

Whatever Inzaghi said during the break had an immediate effect. Inter claimed a penalty of their own in the 51st minute, with Çalhanoğlu converting from the spot to restore the hosts’ advantage—and redeem himself in the process. Deflated by that blow, Feyenoord struggled to respond, while Thuram threatened to add to the scoreline on several occasions.

No further goals were forthcoming, leaving Inter to advance comfortably into the quarter-finals, where they will face Bayern Munich. The first leg is set for early April at the San Siro.
