The Belgian midfielder is focused on staying in Europe — at least for one more season

Kevin De Bruyne has no intention of chasing a payday in Saudi Arabia or Major League Soccer this summer. Following his announcement to leave Manchester City, the Belgian midfielder is focused on staying in Europe — at least for one more season.

Despite growing interest from Saudi Pro League clubs and previous reports linking him to MLS, De Bruyne is prioritising offers from top-tier European sides. The 32-year-old believes continuing to compete at the highest level is crucial to his long-term goal: representing Belgium at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

According to sources close to the player, De Bruyne sees the next World Cup as his final chance to lead Belgium’s so-called “golden generation” to international glory. A move to a less competitive league, he feels, could jeopardise both his form and his place in the national squad.

While clubs in the Saudi Pro League are reportedly preparing lucrative offers to tempt him, and MLS franchises remain keen, De Bruyne remains laser-focused on remaining in Europe — where he still has plenty to offer at the elite level.
