Ballon d'Or 2025: Dazzling Dembélé dominates as Yamal finishes distant second
Ousmane Dembélé has been crowned the winner of the 2025 Ballon d'Or in emphatic fashion, collecting a staggering 1,380 points — a full 321 ahead of his closest rival, Lamine Yamal of Barcelona. The Paris Saint-Germain star becomes the first Frenchman to lift the prestigious award since Karim Benzema in 2022.
In one of the most one-sided results in recent Ballon d’Or history, Dembélé secured 73% of all first-place votes, while the 18-year-old Yamal appeared at the top of just 11 ballots. For context, last year’s winner Rodri edged Vinícius Júnior by just 41 points — a far cry from Dembélé's dominant display in 2025.
