Fresh off a stunning performance against Poland in the UEFA Nations League, Cristiano Ronaldo opened up about his career plans during a post-match interview. The 39-year-old Portuguese icon, who notched a brace and an assist in the 5-1 win, reaffirmed his passion for the game but hinted at an eventual timeline for retirement.

"I Want to Enjoy the Game"

Responding to questions about his age and the end of his illustrious career, Ronaldo said:

"As I’ve said before, I just want to enjoy playing football. A plan for retirement? If there is one, it might come into play in a year, or maybe even two. For now, I honestly don’t know."

Ronaldo’s three-point contribution against Poland helped secure Portugal’s spot in the Nations League quarterfinals, further underlining his enduring importance to the team.

Turning 40, but Still Motivated

As he approaches his 40th birthday, Ronaldo remains focused on performing at the highest level:

"I’ll turn 40 soon, but I genuinely want to enjoy the game while I still feel motivated. The day I lose that motivation, I’ll step away from football."

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also addressed speculation about reaching the 1,000-goal milestone in his career:

"To be honest, I’m not even thinking about the 1,000-goal record. Of course, it’s always great to make history, but it’s not something I’m fixated on right now."
