Grand betting scandal rocks Turkish football

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has uncovered an unprecedented match-betting scandal involving 1,024 professional players across multiple divisions. All those named have been suspended from competition effective November 10, 2025, with their cases now transferred to the Disciplinary Committee.
This marks the largest purge in the history of Turkish football. In response, TFF has opened emergency talks with FIFA to introduce a special 15-day domestic transfer window to help clubs replace suspended players — in addition to the regular winter market. Meanwhile, fixtures in the lower divisions have been postponed for two weeks, though the Süper Lig and First League will continue as scheduled.
A separate group of 47 players implicated in isolated incidents will have their cases temporarily suspended pending new evidence from government authorities. The investigation remains ongoing, with active correspondence between TFF and state institutions. More sanctions may follow once the final reports are reviewed.
